Fashion: Black&White

One of the biggest spring trends this year is black and white. An unusual combination for spring time, as we are used to bright colours and pastels for this time of year. Nevertheless B&W is back, and I thought I'd put a more familiar spin on the trend by mixing in a colour with an outfit focused around the two colours- for springtime of course!

Feminine Tux

With a classic oxford shirt buttoned up with some high waisted trousers, this is quite the official looking outfit. To bring it back down to a casual level, I slung over a loose, long knit cardigan and added a statement necklace in a light rose colour. This necklace is very frilly and girly, with a bit of sparkle, just the fit for a rather serious outfit. On your feet, go for some neutral shoes, black, nude- or be a bit daring and try some raspberry coloured flats.

90's Flashback

I took a black and white polka dot dress, to bring out the white dots, I added a cream sweater overtop and paired it with a denim jacket. I kept the accessories simple with a long silver necklace, and your classic brown bag. It may look like you walked out of a 90's movie with the polka dots and denim, but it's a casual way to be just on trend.

 Boho Chic

A long, black, sheer maxi skirt with opaque hearts on it, is quite the statement skirt. Sticking to neutral colours, I added a loose, light burgundy tank top tucked in and a cream crochet vest. The vest added to the skirt tones down the formalness of the skirt, in that 'boho' kinda way. I finished off this outfit with a cream purse that has the detailed gold chain. This outfit is the ideal ensemble for the girl looking for the happy medium between 'downtown chic' and the California hippie.

Blushing Blazer

As you might have been able to tell, I do love polka dots and oxfords- and the colour light pink. This tank top just happened to perfectly be on trend, white with a peplum cut and small black hearts dotting the fabric- makes for not only a flattering fit, but a simply adorable top. To add some layers to this look, I first put on the white oxford and black leggings, then overtop a blush coloured blazer. I think the light pink is perfect for spring, it's light and girlie, and stands out with the neutral colours. '

With a slightly more colourful take on the black and white trend, these outfits take the very classic colours, and make them (in my mind) a little more springy to jump into the new season.
