A Review: Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss & Swatches

Lip gloss is something that can add that extra 'oomph' to any look, that little bit of shine that can bring everything together. However, lip gloss can be hit or miss; either your windblown hair will be attached to your mouth as if it were your meal, or it can be just the finishing touch. In the hunt to discover the perfect lip gloss, many have emerged into my possession, including the Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss.

Left: 008 Peony, Right: 010 Hot Pink

The Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss line is available in 15 shades with a variety of finishes. The packaging is very slick and sturdy and chanel-esque (never a bad thing.) It comes with my favourite type of applicator, a plush doe foot and applies very smoothly distributing just the right amount of product. The two colours I have come to love are 008 Peony and 010 Hot Pink.

For those of you that prefer a light weight gloss- this is the one for you. Its very light and airy and glides- rather than globs. For a thin gloss that isn't sticky or slimy, it holds a lot of pigment that lasts.

Peony has a warm, light, peachy-pink base with gold shimmer throughout it. It's a neutral colour that's easy to wear, not one that will blank out your lips, instead it gives a touch of colour that will warm up any complexion.

The next colour, Hot Pink, is a mix between fuchsia and medium pink with silver shimmer sprinkled in.  Since it has more of a cool tone to it, it makes helps make teeth appear whiter (always a plus). Hot Pink isn't as easy to wear- most of your makeup (especially blush) has to be the same cool tone; but nonetheless it is a simply beautiful shade.

Pro's:
- Drugstore ($8-10)
- Many shades/ warm and cool tones
- Light weight and thin
- Not sticky!
- Easy application
- Layers well

Con's:
- Doesn't last through eating
- Can move around on lips (slightly)

The age old hunt to find your perfect lip gloss starts with that first lip smackers purchased when you were 5, and fortunately for me, I have found my holy grail gloss. Light consistency, pigmented and sticky-free, this lip gloss has proved to reign number one in my collection..for now.
